One of the earliest bras was made by Mary Phelps Jacob in New York in 1913 although history tells us that women, throughout the centuries, have designed and worn garments designed normally to enhance their bodies often it’s been to to try and hide their breasts.

Mary, however, devised a simple bra made out of handkerchiefs so that she could wear an evening dress without the stiff wire boned corsets that were popular in those times. Essentially, it is important to buy the correct size right from an early age  as a poorly fitting bra can cause problems such as back pain, muscle pain and even headaches later in life.

Most young girls cannot wait to wear their first bra and often buying a training bra is the solution if their breasts are at an early stage of development.
